I am really late with my recap of last weekend @ The Ridge. So, I’m combining a recap and a preview of this week.
Last Sunday, we kicked off our Christmas series Re:Gift. To “regift” something, you take a gift that has been given to you and give it to someone else. During this series we are focusing on John 3:16. Arguably the most familiar verse in all of the Bible. It was a great day as we had one worship gathering, since it was Thanksgiving weekend. I am very grateful to those RidgeKidz workers who served sacrificially so that we could gather as one last week. Good crowd too, for a holiday weekend!
This past Sunday we talked about “Love Like God Loves”. A Love Like God’s Is…
- Unconditional and Underserved – Romans 5:6-10
- Sacrificial – Hebrews 9:26
- Complete – Hebrews 7:27, 9:12; Romans 6:10
A Love Like God’s Love…Requires a RESPONSE – John 3:16-21 …Brings a CHANGE – 1 John 4:7-21 …COMPELS us to share that LOVE – 2 Corinthians 5:14-20
If we are going to re:gift the greatest gift ever given, we must love like God loves.
This Sunday we will be looking at the second part of John 3:16. “For God so LOVED the world that He GAVE…” What would Christmas look like if we were to “give like God gives?” Now, don’t get all worried and think, “Oh, I’m not comin ’cause all they’re gonna do now is ask me to give more of my money!” Nope. That’s not the focus. Read John 3:16 and ask yourself, “What did God give? How did He give?” Then join us Sunday as we dig deeper into this great verse of scripture…the Gospel and the Christmas story in a nutchell! Invite someone to join you. People are likely to come to church at Christmas…IF we will invite them.
