Sunday Recap 11-7-10

Great day @ The Ridge today. We continued in our Gamechanger series on the Beatitudes with Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”  Here are some of the highlights and some of the teaching points:

  • We took a special time in the middle of our gathering to pray for the people that came to our Fall Festival last Sunday. The entire church broke up into groups and we passed out lists of names and prayed for hundreds of families by name. It was a really special time.
  • At the end of our gatherings we saw 5 people indicate that they were praying to put their faith in Christ! That’s what its all about!
  • Today was our Partnership 1 lunch and class. Seven people joined us for the first part of our Partnership process. Love teaching this class and letting people know the history and vision and how they can join The Church @ The Ridge. It was a good time. Thanks to Pam Davis & Debra Cox for the great food! Thanks to some of our teenagers who volunteered at the last minute to keep kids for our class.
  • The band did their usual stellar job. Nothing more can be said about that.  🙂
  • ALL our volunteers do a fantastic job each week. Thanks to all of you who serve the Lord and make a difference in people’s lives each week.
  • I taught on Matt. 5:8, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
  • What is this PURITY? The purity Jesus is speaking of isn’t one that is pure from the start, but one who has been cleansed.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
  • How am I made pure?  I am made pure by…
    …the Word of God Ephesians 5:26 ; John 17:17
    …through confession1 John 1:9

Here’s The So-What…How do you and I keep our hearts pure?

  • Watch what we think Philippians 4:8
  • Watch who you hang with  1 Corinthians 15:33
  •  I cannot be double-minded  James 4:8

Next Sunday we wrap up our GameChanger series with what may be one of the most unique gatherings we have ever done. i promise you , it will be powerful. you DON’T want to miss it!  It will defintiely be one of those days that if you miss it, you’ll be saying “Dang! I should’ve been there!”
