Sunday Recap 9-20-09

Great day @ The Ridge today as we kicked off our new series, One Month To Live. We had a little bit lower attendance than normal. However, those that paddled or swam their way to The Ridge today were challenged and blessed.

  • we began our series asking:  “What would we do if we knew we only had one month to live?” How would it change the way we live?
  • We talked today about “Living The Dash” …the dash between our birthdate and date of our death that appears on a grave marker. What are you and I doing with the dash? Are we dashing to live or are we living the dash?
  • Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Everything about our lives is temporary. We should number our days, because they are numbered. As Ecclesiastes 9:12a says, “Moreover, man does not know his time…”
  • What if we chose to “live the dash” in such a way that we, at the end of our lives, would have no regrets? A life full of meaning and purpose is what God wants for us. Jesus said that He came to give us “life… more abundantly.” (Jn 10:10)
  • This series is about taking a challenge to live the next 30 days as if they are our last. Taking 30 days to a life of no regrets.
  • Today MANY people took the challenge. MANY people signed up to join small groups for the next month as we study God’s word together during this challenge.
  • Saw several new faces today and several returning faces that we hadn’t seen in a while. That was great to see!
  • Partnership Lunch after our worship gathering. It was our first one since the beginning of summer and we had 6 families with 17 total individuals going through part one of our partnership (what we call membership) process.
  • MAN! It is crazy how much it is raining, especially tonight! I think the drought is over. Lightning is ridiculous too!
  • My 16 year old wanted to go to the High School Ministry at WestRidge with some friends tonight, so we took her. When I went to pick her up, three different roads were flooded. I drove through two places and stalled out my van once. was able to get it started again, thankfully. Came upon it really fast and couldn’t stop. Took me an hour to go get her, which usually takes about 30 minutes.
  • Holy moly! It is 11:15pm right now and it is raining harder than I’ve ever seen! And I’ve seen hurricanes before! Unbelievable! The lightning and thunder is outrageous. Shows the power and awesomeness of God! What’s even more amazing is that the kids are sleeping through this! 🙂
  • Back to this morning, I am excited about what God is about to do here @ The Ridge with this series! It is going to be amazing! Ridgers, bring someone with you next week, when we’ll be looking at Living Passionately. Its gonna be awesome!
