Sunday Recap 1-25-09

Here’s the highlights of a great day (a busy day) @ The Ridge:

  • We started a new series today: Beginnings…we’re taking a look at Genesis and the foundations of our faith that are found in the first book of the Bible. Today we looked at “Why Genesis Matters.”
  • I am pumped about this series. It is something that God laid on my heart months ago.
  • Strong attendance today…nearly 400 again!
  • We got to pray for Doug Garvin and Canvas Church (our first “daughter” church) in Savannah as they launched today. Doug used to be our Creative Arts Pastor and is now the Lead Pastor at Canvas. Several others from here went with them to start the church too.  We started off our first gathering with a phone call and a prayer for them as they got ready to launch. It was cool to get to connect! We got to end our second gathering with a live call to them to hear a report. They had a good crowd and two people prayed to receive Christ today! Awesome start! Proud of these guys and how God is goin got use them in Savannah.
  • Wendell and Ashley kicked off a new program called JumpJam which is for parents and kids who are wanting to know more about faith decisions and baptism. It wend well with eight families attending. The Family Ministry team is doing a great job of equipping parents to impact another generation.
  • Tonight we had our Winter Beach Party Connection Night for groups. We have over 150 adults and teenagers in Quest Groups! Amazing!
  • On a sad note, Bill Edger, our Administration/Assimilation Pastor, lost his mom this afternoon. Bill had to leave just as our second gathering was starting and go to the hospital. She had been sick for a few weeks and back and forth to the hospital, before she finally passed away. Please remember Bill and his family.
  • All our volunteers are amazing @ The Ridge! Props to our Operations Team who did set up and Breakdown shorthanded today. Great job as always guys!  Props today go to Linda Everman for a PHENOMENAL job as our Hospitality Leader. We overwhelmed her with 2 meals today, but she pulled it off with grace and humility. Huge props to Dawn Blount and Scott Byers who took on our small group leadership and did a great job of getting them organized. Lots of new peeps in groups…awesome! Rachel our admin asst. did a great job too of helping get Connection Night together.
  • Crazy busy day! I’m wiped out! going to bed so I can hit it running tomorrow. Whipple, out!
