It’s the trip that never ends…

Well, we have spent the day in the lovely Splendid Hotel (Hote’l Spledide) here in Ougadougou. I will say it hasn’t been too bad. The hotel is pretty nice (about 3 star by US standards) and the food has been good…all at Air France’s expense.

I did get to sleep late, which was nice. I have been able to spend the majority of the day so far studying. Actually it is nice to be mostly caught up and basically ready for Sunday, so in that regard this has been a blessing. One of our team was to fly directly from Paris to Los Angeles for a business meeting. However, he had to cancel that and is flying home to ATL with us, bringing him home 2 days early. His wife is the only one of our team’s wives who is thrilled with this delay. 🙂

We are going to try to head to the airport extra early to beat the crowd. If you’ve never flown in and out of third world airports, it is an adventure. Lots of people, small spaces, limited personnel to help, tons of people trying to sell you stuff (we even had a kid trying to sell us eggs in front of the airport last night). If we can get there an hour ahead of the time they told us to, we should be at or very near the front of the line. If we’re just hanging out, we might as well do it there. Anyway, it will make us feel like we’re going somewhere. So, we’re headed there in about an hour.

I pray that this is the last blog from this side of the Atlantic and my next entry will be from the comforts of my own home.
