Sunday Recap

Good day @ The Ridge today. Here are a few highlights:

  • Part 2 of Finding The Truth In Narnia focused on waiting (or not waiting) on God.
  • Band did great. John, Jason and the boys did a great job with Switchfoot’s This Is Home from the Prince Caspian soundtrack.
  • Attendance was down a bit, but that was to be expected with Memorial Day weekend. I really expected it to be lower than it was. We were off about 1/3 from average. I am surprised people are traveling as much with gas prices being so high. But I suppose not everyone drives a bus like we do. 🙂
  • Lyndon did a great job as we recognized and remembered our military, their families and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for this nation. Always looks sharp in his Marine dress uniform. (although a kid unintentionally insulted him afterwards by calling him”Army”…you don’t say that to a Marine!)
  • Great video salute too with Toby Keith’s American Soldier! Don’t ever forget what Memorial Day is really about.
  • Got home and my wife wanted to get out of the house, since she hasn’t been out much this week. So, after lunch even though I’m beat, we went to the mall and Toys R Us. Survived that, now we’re back home. 🙂
  • lookin forward to Monday being an off day. I do have one yardwork client with a hedge trimming job in the morning, but after that, I’m free!
  • Cookin out tomorrow evening. I might splurge and get Bubba Burgers. Yum! 🙂
  • I plan on watching the Coca Cola 600 tonight, since I didn’t get to see the Indy 500 today.
  • We have a Teacher Appreciation Lunch Tuesday for all the staff and faculty at Austin M.S. Longhorn’s is helping us with that. Should be good for sure!
  • We’re finishing up Finding The Truth In Narnia series next week then starting a new series: Life Lessons From The 80s. What’s it about? You’ll have to be here on June 8th to see.
  • By the way, we’ll also be kicking off that series with an 80s Prom Night Volunteer Appreciation on June 8th from 6:00 – 8:00pm. There will be fun, crazy stuff, good food, and a live 80s band kickin the music (and no it isn’t The Ridge band either). It is going to be FUN, so don’t miss it if you serve in any way @ The Ridge! We have a great team of volunteers that make things happen week in and week out, so we want to honor you and thank you for your service to the Lord. Tickets will be passed out next Sunday. Look for Bill & Ted walking around to get yours!

By the way, our website has been upgraded. Still not exactly what we want, but light years better than it was. It will do for a stopgap until we can do something else. Props to Danny and my wife and some others who made it happen. Check it out HERE.
