reflections on Drive 08

The Drive ’08 Conference that our team attended this week was great! Drive is put on by North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, where Andy Stanley is the Lead Pastor.  Andy has so much great insight on leadership and the church. It was a great time to worship and learn…and get somewhat disturbed at times.

The last session was great, because Andy “called an audible” and changed his message. He decided to talk about some things he was working through himself. The session was called “Recent Random Thoughts on Church and Leadership.” There were several quotes that he shared and talked about, most of which are things Andy said he was still processing himself. The most disturbing one to me, the one that I will be chewing on for quite a while, the one that should keep us always thinking and always moving was a quote attributed to Craig Groeschel, pastor of Lifechurch.tv in Oklahoma (and all over the US). He said this:

“To reach people no one else is reaching, we must do things no one else is doing.”

I’m gonna be processing that for a while. What are we as a church doing and what are we as a family doing and what are we as individuals doing to “reach people no one else is reaching”? We can’t keep doing the same things, no matter how successful they were last year or last week. We have to continually keep moving forward. Looking ahead. Not trying to catch up with the culture but SHAPING the culture through the gospel.

What are your thoughts on that?
