Sunday Night Recap

Today was a good day @ The Ridge! Somewhat surprising in some ways too: for the second Sunday of Spring Break we had a pretty good attendance at 351and LOTS of first-time guests today.

Doug preached today and did a great job. It was nice to have a week off from teaching. I really needed the break. It was doubly nice today because since it was Spring Break last week, we were allowed to leave our entire setup in the school. That meant that we didn’t have to be there as early as normal. (I actually got to sleep until after 7 this morning 🙂 )

Next Sunday is our 2nd Anniversary. It’s gonna be crazy! We are having one huge gathering in a big tent at the Kroger shopping center on Ridge Road. We’re taking church to the community! Longhorn’s will be providing lunch afterwards. Should be a lot of fun, but it’s gonna be a busy week as we get ready. We handed out 1000 invitation cards for all you Ridgers to pass out. We’re praying for you guys to bring a lot of people from the community.

We’re also commissioning Doug Garvin and his family next Sunday as they prepare to go to Savannah to plant Canvas Church there next spring. We’re excited about what God has in store for them and are praying for God’s provision. We’re also praying for God’s direction as we seek to fill Doug’s shoes in the Creative Arts area.

I have worked like crazy this week at my extra job mowing grass this week. It seems everyone needed pinestraw and hedges trimmed and yards fertilized all this week. It was nuts! I spread nearly 200 bales of pinstraw this week. I’ll be glad when the extra stuff is over and I can just mow each week. I spent this afternoon sharpening blades on my mowers. Thanks to Matt for helping with that! Should make things cut a lot better.

I love watching the Master’s each year at this time, but it wasn’t very exciting today. Kind of anti-climactic.

We’re going out as a staff tomorrow night. Just staff and wives. Should be a lot of fun. Looking forward to it.

Getting to hang out with my friend Russ Butcher from Church at the Grove in Loganvillefor lunch tomorrow. Looking forward to that too.

Going to bed now. I’m tired.
